Receiving the grace of Christ · Galatians series · GAL01_1
What if you spent your life improving a room you could never unlock?
You could clean it, rearrange it, and make it more comfortable. The locked door would still leave you needing rescue.
That picture helps us hear the opening of Galatians. Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father (Galatians 1:4). Our hope begins with what He has done.
Our acceptance before God cannot be earned through a better performance. Galatians 2:16 directs us to faith in Jesus Christ for justification. We come to Him with our need and trust His saving work.
The freedom He gives also changes how we live. Galatians 5:13 calls us to serve one another through love. Grace frees us to turn toward our neighbors with the love we have received.
Take a quiet moment with this question:
Where am I treating God’s acceptance as something I must earn?
Bring that answer before the Lord. Ask Him to help you trust Christ and see one opportunity to serve someone in love today.
Father, thank You for sending Your Son to rescue us. Help us rest our confidence in Christ, receive Your grace, and serve one another through love. Amen.
