Go to the ant, O sluggard

There are thirty-one chapters of proverbs and today is the 6th of November, have you read today’s chapter from your Bible?

Be encouraged to start your morning or at the very least, sometime that day, to read a chapter of proverbs dedicated to that day.

How does today’s chapter speak to you?

There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

  1. Pride
  2. Lying
  3. Murder
  4. Deceit
  5. Perversion
  6. Gossip
  7. Evil

Temptation is constantly crouching at the doors of our hearts ready to devour us, and many… sadly… are being devoured right before our eyes; I can’t think of a worse experience to pain endured than watching who you love reject their salvation; choosing rather to be consumed by six elements of hate, until finally converted to an abomination of evil that infested their soul for the devil’s household.

When the apostle Paul said, “…I die daily” (1 Corith 15:31) would have liked to have thought that that is what he meant when teaching the Corinthians the power of the gospel; that the experience of death is watching a person you love so dearly being sifted, ripped and torn apart by the sin that divides us from the God who saved us in Jesus Christ; Paul saw the spiritual nature of the human condition.

The trajectory is clear, the forecast is eternal separation from the purpose we have here and now by the apologetics of our faith we so desperately preach, and mean to practice.

I don’t mean to burden my fellow brothers and sisters in the faith by those words of sadness… forgive me that harm; it’s not said without experience, where there is sorrow, joy exists in hope for tomorrow.

We have work to do!

So go to the ant, O sluggard!
