Hamartiology: To know good and evil

“Now, if the Bible claims to be anything, it claims to be a revelation from God, a miraculous or supernatural book, recording the numerous direct acts of God in nature and history, and His interference with the natural course of events. Are the writers of the Bible correct, or are the critics? It is impossible that both should be right.” —R. A. Torrey

Genesis 3:22
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—

Supernatural help

It might go without saying—to the believer in the gospel—the obvious necessity for supernatural help, but in my observation of those not born again into Christian consciousness is that it’s evidently not obvious. So I urge the reader, compromised by any subtle unbelief in the gospel, to consider their missing component for knowing good and evil; that being, faith in the Son of God (Matt. 26:62-64) and Spirit of truth (John 16:13).

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
  • If you have confessed with your mouth believing in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you are born again, dead in sin but alive in Christ the Lord according to the revelation (Christian consciousness) of the gospel.
Romans 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

It has been my experience that to operate with subtle faith-inconsistencies of belief in God through the gospel generates denial and deludes the mind of knowledge to the truth. The consequence is severe. Those subtle inconsistencies are fiery darts from the enemy yet to be extinguished by living water nor actively deflected by your shield of faith—for lack of knowledge and skill in your belief system. It’s important to receive the necessary discipline of our heavenly Father to mature in faith and develop skill in righteousness (understanding and behavior).

The way given by God in His grace for me to correct these inconsistencies is repentance from sin and faith in the gospel to equip my spirit and soul and body with the armor and sword of God. I believe that to be the case for my reader as well. It appears to me that if I were to maintain any inconsistency to the truth of the gospel means to establish the “gospel” presentation my way, deluded by “self” generated knowledge (which is actually of supernatural recourse in essence). That, also, I believe to be the case for the reader—hence this study.

The list grows

Books

I still have yet to find (not to say it isn’t there) in these resources an exposition on evil at the scale in which communicates how—the anointed cherub that covers (Eze 28)—it’s possible to generate unrighteousness. That’s what I mean to do. Here we go…
